Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most common questions about Sentinel Bot.
About the Bot
Is the bot free?
Yes, Sentinel Bot is completely free to use.
Do I need technical knowledge to use it?
No, the bot is designed to be easy to use. This documentation guides you step by step, and the web panel makes everything more visual.
Does the bot work 24/7?
Yes, the bot is always active and monitoring your server, even when you are offline.
What permissions does the bot need?
The bot needs administrator permissions to function correctly. This allows it to ban users, manage channels, and protect your server.
About Protection
Can the bot ban legitimate users by mistake?
It's very rare, but it can happen if:
- There's an event with many legitimate users and the threshold is very low
- Auto-ban is activated during a special event
Solution: You can unban users from Discord or the web panel if it was a mistake. You can also use whitelist for trusted users.
What happens if there's a legitimate event with many users?
If you know there will be an event, you can:
- Temporarily increase the threshold (for example, to 20)
- Deactivate auto-ban
- Completely deactivate anti-raid during the event
How long does it take to detect a raid?
The bot detects raids almost instantly. If you configured a threshold of 5 users in 1 minute, as soon as the fifth user joins, protection is activated.
Can the bot prevent raids before they happen?
The bot detects raids when they are occurring and stops them. It cannot prevent raids before they start, but it stops them very quickly once it detects the pattern.
About Configuration
Can I change the configuration later?
Yes, you can change any configuration at any time from the web panel or using commands.
What threshold should I use?
It depends on your server:
- 3-5 users: Small servers (less than 100 members)
- 5-10 users: Medium servers (100-1000 members)
- 10-15 users: Large servers (more than 1000 members)
Should I activate auto-ban?
We recommend activating it for most servers. If you have frequent special events, you can deactivate it temporarily.
About Backups
How often should I create backups?
It depends on how active your server is. For very active servers, we recommend creating a weekly backup. For less active servers, monthly is fine.
Do backups take up a lot of space?
Backups are stored on the bot's server. Each server can have one backup at a time, and when you create a new one, the previous one is deleted.
Can I restore a backup to a different server?
Yes, you can restore a backup to any server where the bot has administrator permissions.
About the Web Panel
Do I need to use the web panel or can I use only commands?
You can use either. The web panel is easier, but commands also work perfectly.
Is the web panel secure?
Yes, the web panel uses official Discord authentication. Only you can access your servers' configuration.
Can I use the web panel from my phone?
Yes, the web panel works on mobile devices. You can manage your server from anywhere.
